Limit Hold-Em (On Line)

Though this article is basically targeting the on line game, many of the strategies discussed here are applicable to the live game. Particularly the playing, holding limits and the basic betting strategies. That being said let's continue.

The target game is $5 - $10 Hold-Em. You can scale the numbers to fit whichever game you happen to be playing.
The first thing that you have to understand about this game (as with most limit games, especially on line) is that it is almost impossible to scare an opponent out of a pot with a raise. While this is also true in live games, it is much harder to project a "persona" on line and therefore becomes harder to bluff your opponents. This simply means that you have to tighten your game up even more on line.
The next thing to realize is that tells are even more subtle when playing on line than when playing live. On line you can't watch your opponent for hesitations, or other tells, you have to rely solely on how he bets and when. Knowing this you will also have to mix up your betting strategy to keep from becoming predictable.
So, understanding this it should be apparent to any experienced player that you are going to have to play an extremely tight game.
You cannot afford to "fall in love with any hand at any time! A good starting hand can turn into a poor second or worse between the flop and the bets that precede you and the Successful limit player knows when to get out.
